After a very long time, we had a local BULBs (Bangalore Urban LadyBirders) outing (it was beginning to seem as if they went only on international trips!), and we decided to go to Manchinabele Reservoir.
As usual, the day started with fog and mist:

The green bee eater (do they really eat bees?) is so pretty! It's rare to see green birds that aren't in the parrot families.

Of course they eat bees!...and dragonflies and other insects...so expertly plucking them out of the air.
Q. What do you call a very young Bee-eater?
A. An egg-beeeater!

Like pondhopper, I was attracted to the green bee eater. (Also the little red-rumped sparrow!)

Where did you drive around? We usually take first right and drive along the tar road on the right side(from the main road) of the reservoir. I have only gone about km or 2(limit of my kids patience :) ) though before turning around.
