3rd Sunday bngbirds outing, from Ramakrishna Ashram, Shivanahalli, into Bannerghatta Forest : 171010

Today's outing was both more interesting, and longer-lasting, than I had anticipated. I've been to the Ramakrishna Ashram several times, and we've always just walked a little past the campus and come back. So today I was very surprised to be able to go for quite a longish trek up hill and down dale ( Read more... )

I think you reserved the best for the last.
The butterfly was just beautiful!

Thank you...but actually the best was the first... the best for me was the insectivorous plant that I devoted a separate post to!

You take so many nature type walks/outings. That is so lovely...I think you have a fascination for the insects.

Yes, most weekends I go out into the forest. And it's just that the insects are easier to photograph, and don't flit away in a second, like the birds do!

SwamiJI surrounded by 'infidels'
in Nike, Adidas, Canon, Nikon, SwissGear..
and the visit ssems to be more for 'fast food'
than a dose of spirituality!

Pictures says it all

And why would those brands be bad? Each of us contributes to the Ashram when we go there, and we often take the children birding. Yesterday I gave a bird-book, too, for the children.

Between the first pic and the pic of the food, there was a gap of about five hours!

Sorry you're so negative about this!

We don't go to the Ashram as spiritual seekers, except in the sense that walking in the forest IS a kind of spirituality for me. Swamiji, too, is a very inclusive person and deals with each of us as he finds us. That is, I think, the sign of a great soul.

Hi Deepa,

You really must have had a blast yesterday, which I missed due to Dassera finale and mandatory visit to my parents.

Hope to join you next time.

Enjoyed your posting.

ciao

Deepa
very nice pics. Thanks for posting them. I am experiencing the Sunday walks thru the various links on bngbirds until we get an opportunity to join in! We live in Whitefield, which makes it hard to get to places without a car on early mornings..

loved the elephant pictures..

Do what Geetanjali has been doing...explore the areas around your home, and encourage the group to come there for birding once in a while!
