Maybe I will....when the giver is safely back abroad.

On the other hand, it gives me a real challenge to see if I can find a "lovely" gift that you will have to pretend to like as well. Maybe you need to open a museum.

my main suggestion is get it out of yr house as soon as possible after your guest leaves. the whole gift thing is such a source of stress, I'm sure they meant well and just couldn't really figure out what to do. here I use something called freecycle - just post it to a list and usually someone will come get it. or I take it to a thrift store/op shop

Good suggestion! I must see if there's something like Freecycle here, too. But Debbie...I have a sinking feeling that NO ONE will want such stuff....

We have no thrift stores here, as you know!
