Personally i feel the image is perfectly ok for the situation what you have shot it with. You have got some really nice details in the subject.
Having said that for a moment i was wondering how did u post just the birds in the post - bcos the bg (i mean background) of the bird was blending so well with the bg of your LJ theme.

Heh, heh, the backgrounds just happened to merge. Catch ME being so technically savvy!

For me...as usual..the documentation is important...not the quality of the shot. When I want to see good shots..I have SO many friends whose websites I can visit!

Hmm.. evne though it is washed out, this picture makes me think that the bird is hung in a time warp or in vacuum. :)

maybe the pic is washed out but I love it. I hv one similar one but with lots of birds in that :D check it out.
