quote "Meanwhile, a gentleman (I use this term advisedly, read on and you will know why) accidentally brushed against both me and another young lady as he went past. I *know*, having had the contact, that it was truly accidental. The guy immediately started apologizing...but the young lady went up in smoke. She hit the guy across the face, and said she knew all about the Lotharios in India. "In America, we don't behave like this," she yelled ( ... )

The accidental gentle man was quite young, that acted against him.

I don't have a love-hate relationship with Chennai. I just don't like it.

I have given up on going to the Adayar Grand Sweets branch. There is one closer to home in Anna Nagar which is not very crowded and much more civil.

I was extremely excited about the thattai that was on its way to me, without even knowing all the trouble it was to obtain it. I tore into it the day it arrived, eating about half of one bag. It didn't taste the same as the usual Grand Sweets quality - having a slight dalda effect of over crunchiness. Something didn't taste particularly wholesome, although it was still good. That evening I had the worst diarrhea and was miserably. Yesterday, not satisfied that it was the thattai after all, I had a more moderate quantity, but with similar side effects later on.

So after all that trouble, this batch of thattais seem to be made with the same rushed rancour that the adai making lady and the self righteous American-desi lady appear to have had.

I'm particularly frustrated to hear about the lady's comment about "In America...". What the hell - if she wants things the way they are in America, she should stay put there.
