Note to myself: When dealing with the Child persona in someone, it is important to take on the Adult persona oneself (cf. Eric Berne ) and not let one's patience or good humour lapse. Yes....we are ugly at our urban heart (and we are undertaking a walk on Sunday to make it less so) but our semi-rural areas are very beautiful.

That's a good point; when that happens, of course, the adult role isn't necessary! But when there is strife, peace can only be restored by the child being dealt with by the adult.
