aHA Sigmund Frood. Austen is MY favourite too, as is the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice...there was a Hindi serial some years ago, based on the same story, which was also very well done. The sad thing was that the Victorian morals of hypocrisy seem to exist in our modern-day society...
You raise a very important point there! When we seem to care less and less about human values, integrity, environment, social equality & other things alike, what does make a society 'modern'? Man might be a sociable animal, but social.. is he ?
True Words Deepa.. You spoke me mind ! Ill be really amazed, the day i see something "Ugly Looking".. Coz i havent seen one till date :) (All for good). Enjoyed this post.. Keep them coming ! Regards, Avi
Oh, but Avi, there ARE such ugly things...the contractor who wants to cut down a tree and make money is a VERY ugly man to me no matter how handsome he may look; the supermodel beauty who starves herself or is found on the streets of the city, with mental illness, is very ugly; those who hunt for sport are ugly people; those who bring children to work in their houses and then beat them are VERY ugly...we went visiting once and we found that the couple would lock up the small girl (about 10 years old) in the flat throughout the day until they returned from work at 9 pm. I walked out of their home, refused to eat there, and told them that I would inform the police if they didn't let the girl go. They insisted that they were taking good care of the girl and were very angry with me...but they did let her go. They were a good-looking couple...but sooooo ugly to me.
So true, Deepa. It is so often the case that good people are less than good looking... Our society is so looks and colour centric that we completely ignore the person inside.
There is a pretty crappy movie but worth watching once movie about this subject called "Shallow Hal". Jack Black plays Hal...
