It was great to meet up with dearchichi and shivakumar_l at Lalbagh, along with anushsh and Mahesh ...but we didn't spend too much time exchanging personal notes as we walked around the area, I got involved in some very nice macro stuff (one of which was my last post) and then when we all spotted sainath's SPOTTED OWLETS, the time just flew by and I had to rush off ( Read more... )

shivakumar, wildlife, mahesh, spotted owlet, photography, anush, amoghavarsha, macro, s3, bangalore, lalbagh

What camera is it you are using again, Deepa? You get excellent results!

That's the Canon S3IS (the IS stands for Image Stablizer, an excellent feature.) This is a great camera for all-purpose usage as I am getting not-too-bad shots even at birding...but what I really like is the video funtion, and of course, the Macro (and there's a SuperMacro too)function...I invested in 4 re-chargeable batteries after the initial fiasco of batteries dying on me just when I needed them, and also bought a battery charger...I really love the camera, because I want to take city scenes as well as forest ones.

But the camera is NOT good for low-light situations; and if you are USED to a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera..then you might not want to "retrograde" to this camera.

I forgot to mention...I also have a 2GB SF card in the camera. I erase whatever I don't want...a great point with digital photography. No piles of photographs blocking up my cupboard!

Ah...I am speculating that there are no pics from you because you are busy with exams....

No comment about the bee or the millipede, but let there be ONE whiff of a Spotted Owlet and I *know* you will find the time to read that post!

Btw, to your comment, " a real beauty", I wanted to say, "it's YOUR beauty"..then I realized it would sound very weird! ;)

Your owlets (we saw two this time) are doing fine, didn't see any in the nest hole though, or in the Mango Trees avenue.

Am emailing you a cormorant pic, critique please (if you have time)
