ENGLISH IS A CONTRARY TONGUE...IT AIN'T VERY TRARY!

.....

One of the problems that faced me as I learnt the English language was the contrariness of words and their opposites. I was fine with "interesting" being the opposite of "uninteresting" (I hope this piece of mine is the former and not the latter) and "amoral" being the opposite of "moral". But then I started getting into hot water. I ( Read more... )

Absolutely hilarious. Posting a link on my blog (http://knutties.livejournal.com/30910.html), even though most of my friends are yours too. My uncle just became cle and un-inhabitable is in a class of its own.

Hi Deepa,

Came across this link while browsing through your blog (something I find enjoyable).

In the beginning of the article, you said "I found that I was quite inept at getting the correct words to signify the opposite of some terms...and needed to get more ept". I thought of finding out if I am quite "ept" at getting such words. However, I put a stop to the thoughts, for I feared that my attempt at verse would rather turn out to be an adverse inverse. ;o)

Thoroughly enjoyed the article. Thanks.

With regards,
Madhukar

OMG please let me stop laughing hard enough to type!!! Oh, that is a classic! Surely there are LOTS of markets that would publish that one.

By the way, I just saw the news about the terrible storm in India....I hope you and yours are all safe and unharmed.

thank you for the compliment, Suz!

The storm was in the Kolkata area, that's the east of India. We live in South India...about 1500 miles away. But we will be donating to the relief fund if there is one. Seasonal droughts and floods do play havoc with our country, though certainly Bangaladesh is even worse in this respect.

since I think adding me as a friend is a compliment, thank you, and welcome! I often do visit your LJ through mutual friends... and that is SUCH a beautiful userpic! The mischief and the innocence in that face...ha, would I dare to make such a personal comment if I were face to face?

Thanks for the compliment by adding me back ;)

And...thanks for the compliment about the userpic :) face-to-face, my appearance has changed too much for such a compliment :D
