Interestingly, mine's been dying, apparently, for over a year now. They replaced it, and suddenly some 'engine clacking' I'd been experiencing that every mechanic and their brother wanted to charge me to "investigate" suddenly was gone.

My old Ford went through batteries and alternators like candy, so I know it can get expensive. Here's to hoping you've had all the bad luck you'll have for a while.

But car runs now and it's ok? You are OK? Any way to borrow AGAINST the 401K and not withdraw from it? Keeps you from paying taxes and penalties. Check with your 401K managing company.

Car's okay now, as far as I can tell. I'm safe. And I'm pretty sure I can't withdraw or borrow against it, not until that thing from Obama takes effect, which won't be in time. Guess it's a cash advance for me. ::shudders::
