I want to buy a couple of the Hungry Girl ebooks, but they're not available in the UK. It's so frustrating - I want to buy the damn things ( Read more... )

I'm not sure if files are locked to a specific country -- if they are, you can have another person buy them and strip the DRM, then send the unlocked files to you & you should be okay.

A slightly longwinded way is to change your default kindle address on amazon uk to an American postal address and then buy it from amazon.com. I've done this in the past. And then change it back again once you're finished. It's all a bit of a faff, though!

Hmm. I wonder if that would still work with just the Kindle app, and not an actual Kindle itself?

There was a plug-in for Calibre that allowed you strip off the DRM of your own ebooks although I don't know if it's still working.

With Barnes & Noble, you need a credit card with a billing address in the US in order to buy an e-book, but I think that's the only restriction (you might need a US e-mail address; I'm not sure). You could also check the Hungry Girl website (there HAS to be a Hungry Girl website) and see if there's someone you can contact to ask about it.

Sorry I don't have any other ideas; if I were more computer literate, I could probably come up with something.
