I am so going to hell...

So I went to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy last night, which is a serious serious film, and all I could think about was how you could totally slash Mark Strong and Colin Firth's characters. Like, for real. I was actually wondering if they were canonically gay. I don't think that was the intention of the filmmakers, but...unf. Really ( Read more... )

My mom asked what Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is and the best I could home up with is that it's the dramatic answer to Love Actually in that it has in it virtually every British actor I can name. It's so wrong that I'm ready to see this movie simply for the cast, but there you go. I saw Contagion for the same reason last weekend and was rewarded for my faith.

Have you read the book for TTSS? I have this thing about rarely reading the book after I've seen the movie because it bugs me how much the interpretation of the movie informs on my reading...also, I guess, because I already know what happens by then (bad!). Basically, I either read the book first or never get around to it.

Is it just me or is Tom Hardy in everything this year? Not that it's a problem or anything, it's just that before Inception I'd seen him once ever.

I haven't read the book, no. It's not really my thing, to be honest. I've never seen the TV version they made back in the 70s that everyone raves over either. I think I only went to see this version for the cast.

And Tom Hardy. ::grins:: He does seem to be in everything at the moment, doesn't he? I think Inception gave him a lot of exposure, which is good, because he's such a great actor.
