Am I the only one who is completely and utterly bemused by the whole Twilight thing? All I know about it is that the books are apparently terrible; the main character is a Mary-Sue; there's something creepy about a werewolf and a baby; someone is called Renesmee (wtf?); the author won't publish the last book or something; and the fandom rivals

That's what I know as well. Some of my students are crazy about the books and are telling me I *have* to read them. But considering the fact that the vampires are described as 'sparkly' makes me want to stay far, far, far away from the books! *shakes head*

I'd say that this is a fairly clear indication that the Twilight fandom surpassed the Harry Potter fandom's craziness levels some time ago.
