It's Graduation today...

Dec 17, 2007 16:28

I didn't go. I wasn't planning on going, and since I've been sick I wouldn't have been going even if I had planned to anyway, so it's all academic. But...Graduation. 'Tis all over now, which means my degree has been conferred in my absence, and I am now an officially qualified librarian! Yay!

Now I just need a job. Hmmph.

real life: jobseeking, education: university

Oh, thank you, hon. And I'm sorry I didn't comment on your posts - I've just been going back through everyone's posts that I missed. I can't believe you missed out on that promotion because of that asshole! Is there no-one you can appeal to? The only thing I can think of is you taking that other job, if only to move away from him, and then try again? But it sucks that one jerk is standing in the way of a promotion like this which would be so good for you!

Goodness don't apologize!!! You have definitely had bigger things to worry about :) Yeah, it has not been a good couple weeks. I am going to fight the rating he gave me to try and get it changed to a 3 which is what most people get but unfortunately the damage is already done as far as the promotion and the other job. Hopefully if I do a really good job down there (as I plan to) later in 2008 I can move over to the group I want to be in and get a promotion but that's the best I've got at the moment. I'm nervous about challenging the rating though, some one who can lie as easily as my current boss always makes me nervous since they will say anything to try and get their way. But, the people I trust the most say this is the way to go so I'll go and fight the fight.

Yeah, I think you have to stand up for yourself. This is really unfair on you. It's just awful that one bad boss can have so much of an effect on your career and your fortunes. That guy should be ashamed of himself.

I still haven't posted your Christmas card - what with being sick, I have a couple of Christmas parcels still to go out that at this rate won't reach their recipients before Christmas, but at least you've got your present!

Congrats! Graduation ceremonies are overrated. At least my one was. ;)

Yeah, I found my undergrad ceremony a bit boring and a waste of time. I'm glad I went, but I didn't see the point in doing it all again this time round!
