i agree - i was also somewhat sceptical, but having re-watched part of the old timothy dalton adaptation i might actually (whisper it) prefer this new version...
while i do still love timothy dalton, i think i prefer ruth wilson to zelah clarke. and the chemistry between the two leads is impressive. also, the production values alone are almost enough to win me over!
roll on next week...even though i have to tape it and watch while esther is not in since she steadfastly refuses to be won over by anything jane eyre related!
I did like the Timothy Dalton version, but I found Zelah Clarke too old and Timothy Dalton too damn good-looking! I think my heart will eternally belong to the Ciaran Hinds/Sam Morton version, but this one seems to be running a very close second!
Tell her I'm thoroughly ashamed of her, and she needs to read the book right away. Only she can't have Mr Rochester, 'cause he's mine. She can keep Mr Darcy.
