Should I set up a book blog?

I've been debating about setting a separate book blog for my reviews. Well, I say, 'debating' - what I mean is wallowing in a pit of indecision, half-heartedly thinking about it and then forgetting about it for days, paralysed by own web-skill inadequacies ( Read more... )

From my own attempt in the past, I can say that if you think you will have the time to consistently post reviews and network with other sites (if you desire; it's good for generating traffic, and comments are good for keeping the reviewer interested)...then it's a solid idea. If you wanted to grow/gain sponsors, networking with other sites is crucial, and you have a unique angle in that you're a university librarian who knows the fields in which she's reading. Many blogs out there are "simple" readers who "just like to talk about books," so that'd be why you could say "hey, I'm different, and that's why you should check me out!" (pun intended; I'm not sorry ;) ) I'm not certain how many blogs out there are for straight-up non-fiction books, but likely someone else with more knowledge could tell you what kind of niches you might find ( ... )

Well, if you set one up, I will follow you! Though I have a blog on there, I'm awful at updating it regularly LOL. Wordpress is pretty easy though and if you do book reviews, people will find you.
