As I've complained about, my diet lately has been going nowhere. I lost about 60lbs in the first year, about 10-15lbs in the second year, and since then I feel like I've been losing the same 7lbs over and over again. I finished up this Christmas just gone at exactly the same weight I was the Christmas before. So hey, at least I discovered how to ( Read more... )

IT might be that you now need diff calorie levels to lose, which ...is what you're doing buuut when I was bigger and started my diet they said most of the time I wasn't eating enough so my body would cling to all the calories and either I wouldn't lose or I would gain. It is quite a common thing though yeah it sounds crazy. Glad it is now working for you though :D

Yeah, it's really counterintuitive, but it makes sense. Glad you were able to sort this out! Yay, progress!

Check out this article in t-nation for more about metabolic damage, if you're interested (and disregard all the body-builder images--the info is good): http://www.t-nation.com/diet-fat-loss/truth-about-metabolic-damage

Thanks for that - interesting read! I think I'm clearly doing the right thing, as I'm still losing - another pound off this week, even though I'm eating more now than I have done in years! Hopefully once I've levelled off and stayed there for a couple of months, I can cut back down to a more sensible level and start losing again!
