A far green country under a swift sunrise

What is it about Howard Shore's score for Lord of the Rings? I have never yet come across any music that has such a power to bring me to tears. There's such a sense of melancholy in listening to the Lord of the Rings scores - such a wistful nostalgia. It's like...it's like feeling homesick for Middle Earth.

Whatever else I can say about Lord of ( Read more... )

I did love the Titanic score, yes, but...I guess because the movie itself didn't have such emotional resonance for me, the music doesn't affect me in the same way. I can listen to it and find it beautiful music, but it just doesn't have that same connection for me.

We need to be in the same Hemisphere, Continent, Country, Time Zone, City, building, room. We need to lock ourselves in with blankets and cats and Dr Pepper (diet for you). We need to marathon watch the Expanded Edition LOTR movies.

But, since we're this close to it, we need to have patience (ha ha), and wait for Part 3 of The Hobbit to be released so we can get our mitts on the Expanded Edition of that.

Then we lock ourselves in and do the whole run-through. Hobbit 1, 2, 3 then LOTR. All Expanded, all blu ray.

Oh, we might need a case of kleenex too, but I've been known to use sleeves and the corners of blankets if need be.

We really really do. Ugh, that would be so awesome. I can't wait for the day when we can marathon all three LotR and Hobbit movies!

Ha, I'll be in Florida in June - is that close enough?

No! Because by then I'll be back at home in Wisconsin again. :(

I've been very good and have not purchased Hobbit 1 nor pre-ordered Hobbit 2. I am forcing myself to wait until all 3 movies are released so I can get the box set.

I figure if I can sit through a 2 year hiatus for Sherlock S3, I can wait another year for Hobbit 3 and a few months added on to wait for the DVDs to come out.

Though truly, patience is NOT my strong suit!

Bloody Atlantic getting in the way again. *sighs*

I am impressed with your patience. Because I am a schmuck and bought Hobbit 1 on DVD when it was first released, then AGAIN in the EE version, and I will no doubt do the same with the others.

Ha. So not the piracy person the movie industry needs to be worrying about.
