I finally got around to watching House.

Yes, yes, I know it seems like the world and his grandmother is loving this show - at least in America, I've heard less fuss over here - and I did mean to start watching it, but I never got around to downloading any episodes and then I missed the first couple on Five...

Anyway, I've downloaded the first five

I don't think it will ever be one of those shows where I become heartily obsessed, fall madly in love with a particular character, ship like crazy and read all the fanfic I can get my hands on

I'm gonna be real interested to see if your opinion changes by the end of the season. 'Cause the first few eps had me hooked on the show, but the latter half had me wishing like crazy that I had time to write fic for it.

And I love Hugh Laurie. Such a world away from Blackadder.

I've been re-watching Jeeves & Wooster lately, and the difference between his comedy and drama is stunning, isn't it? I can't get over how good he is in House. I mean, I knew he was talented, but I had no idea he could actually carry the whole show like this.

I never knew he could act! Before this, the only 'serious' role I'd ever seen him in was a small part in Sense and Sensibility - I'm so used to seeing him play silly, upper-class twits, like in Blackadder or Jeeves & Wooster.

I remember finding it so strange when I first started hearing about House and everyone raving over it - 'cause it's Hugh Laurie! People talking about him being sexy and stuff - and I was like, it's Hugh Laurie! WTF?

But then, I remember hearing a couple of people say that Steve Coogan was sexy in Around The World in 80 Days, and that was even weirder!

It's so weird. I don't know, but I think being on House is actually what made him just a little bit sexy (for some kind of proof, here's a photo that made it into a recent Entertainment Weekly). I don't remember him being half as sexy when he popped up on MI-5/Spooks as Siviter.

Spooks! Yes! He's a complete arse in that, isn't he? I LOVE that show. How much of it has been shown in the States? I couldn't believe the season three finale!
