There is too much mpreg in The Hobbit fandom. I swear every second fic that pops up seems to have someone pregnant, mostly Bilbo

It seems to me that you feel about mpreg and pregnant fics like how I feel about modern AUs.

I hate mpreg. Well, I hate pregnancy fic in general, but mostly I don't read het, so it's not a problem. But mpreg - ugh. Why.

Yowch. I also hate babyfic (and almost all kidfic) and definitely mpreg. I don't get it at all.

If you do find some good Bilbo/Thorin fic, though, I'd love to read it.

Have you read 'The Sons of Durin' by KivrinEngle? It's a modern AU, I don't know if that's your thing, but it's wonderful!

Also Made and Remade the Necklace of Songs by littleblackdog, and A Shot in the Dark by silver_pup. Both WIPs unfortunately, but really good!

I've NEVER understood mpreg.
I can't think of anything worse. I don't know why people write it or why anyone would want to read it. It's worse than Mary Sue fics - women plastering themselves and their own fantasties onto male characters.

Exactly! I just find it skeevy, it squicks me. Men cannot get pregnant, and I don't understand why you would want to read them being pregnant! They're men! It's just not possible.

Haha! I feel your pain. I don't like pregnancy or baby fic in general, so I find mpreg particularly baffling. I also can't stop thinking about the HOW. And the WHERE. ;)

Yes! HOW and WHERE indeed? Do they ever address this in mpreg fics? I've never read one long enough to find out! Assbabies?
