The name's Bond, James Bond...

I was ridiculously productive this morning. I was up and out of the house by half seven - I'd been to the post office sorting office, two supermarkets, Boots and Dunelm Mill by half nine, and since I was in town I decided I might as well go to the first showing of Skyfall.

And it was bloody brilliant... )

Girl, what you reading this post for if you haven't seen it?

Yep, they kill M. I was not expecting that. It's such a sad scene too.

Girl, you're talking to the chick who flips back to read the last few pages of a book before starting it. If I can spoil myself on something, I will. I've even been known to look up movies on wiki as I watch them to know how they end. In short, putting up a cut with "SPOILERS" is as good as putting up the Batsignal to me.

Aww :( I heard Judi Dench was fairly firm on it being her last one, but still makes me kinda sad. I liked the idea of her M existing somewhere in the Bondverse, being retired and having a boytoy.

Wow, seriously? Damn, and I thought I was a spoiler whore! Weirdly, I don't mind being spoiled for TV, but I hate it for films.

I hadn't heard this was her last, so it was a real surprise for me. It's really good to see her having a much bigger role this time round, maybe that alone should have been a clue!

Just seen it and *loved* it for many of the same reasons you did (especially the bisexual Bond bit!!). It was definitely part Bourne, part Bond though, the gritty realism, that Bond actually *hurts* when he's injured and that it impacts on his performance.

For me, the most exciting bit was the shootout in the Parliamentary Committee room - I laughed at the audacity of it and then just kept gasping at the firefight with M being shepherded away, and Mallory picking up the gun and trying to shoot Silva - so very exciting and edge-of-seat.

I have to admit to shedding a tear when M died in Bond's arms - I think it was as much him crying over her as the fact that she'd died. But yes, I am so going to miss Judi Dench as M, she played the part so well, and also she reminds me of my Mum!!

I know what you mean about M's death - I think it was more Bond's tears that got to me than her actual death. And I like Ralph Fiennes as the new M, and the fact that his office is the same as M's death from the old Bond films, nice touch - but I will miss Judi Dench. It's so nice to see her in such a tough, kickass role.

The only downside is now we have to wait so long for the next one!
