I had a very similar experience, albeit 4 years ago. I love books, I fill up my life with books, I'm never happier than when I'm in a bookstore or simply communing with my bookshelf.

And yet, when I bought my Kindle, it changed my life. I love reading on it. I still love physical books too, but I just adore my Kindle. One of the best moments for it was coming back from a vacation, realizing I didn't want to read anything I'd intended to read on the way back, and then realizing I had the complete works of Jane Austen with me and reading Pride and Prejudice--just because I could! Because it was always with me!

Happy Kindle!

See, YES. I'm very changeable when it comes to books, I have to be in the right mindset for certain books. I have books where I've picked it up and started it four or five times before I've actually managed to get into it, just because I'm not in the right mood. And other books where I've stopped enjoying it partway through because my mood has changed and I want to read something else instead.

So I love that the Kindle gives me that option, that I can always have an alternative with me. Not to mention all the fic. My Kindle is quite loaded up on fic at the moment!

Happy birthday! I loved my e-reader, but I gave it to my sister to read fics on. I have a tablet now and love it just as much. I love that I can browse the net on it, though I do miss the e-reader screen when I just want to read.

I have an iPad too, but I didn't like it as much for reading. I found the glare off the screen gave me a headache, and it annoyed me that I couldn't read outside or in bright light.
