Cool stuff abounds

I'm blantly stealing this link from trollprincess: AICN looks at some sci-fi/post-apocalyptic pilots for next fall.

Duuuude. It's like how everyone and their dog made "aliens invade from teh water" shows last fall, only much more awesome. Heroes looks the coolest ("We are not special! We are Japanese!"). But I am also interested in seeing how they would tackle ( Read more... )

I don't know about those futuristic shows sounding any good, but there was a link to the movie/series being made about the Harry Dresden Files and *YAY*!!!!! Love the Dresden books, they're very good. I've heard rumor they were going to made into a show for Sci-Fi channel, but now it looks like it's for sure. I'll definitely be watching.

I think there's about seven books in the series now. They're written by Jim Butcher and the first one is 'Storm Front'. Harry is a wizard (not a kid like HP, an adult) and he lives in Chicago. He is kind of looked down upon by wizarding society, as he advertises himself in the yellow pages as a professional wizard/private investigator, and the wizarding/fairy/werewolf/vampire world tries to stay low-key and not let the world know of them. Alot of people think he is a crackpot, but the local police (some of them, anyhow) know better. He consults with the 'supernatural' squad ( I don't remember the exact name of it) on a lot of their cases. The books are all pretty good, pretty fast-paced. If you like fantasy, ala HP and LOTR, they should be enjoyable.

The article said 'OMG!James Marsters has to play Harry!', but that would be *SO* wrong. Unless I'm mistaken, isn't Marsters 'Spike' from Buffy? Harry is dark and brooding, not white-blond spikey hair. He's more like Hugh Jackman than Marsters.

Sounds interesting, I'll add it to my list of books to check out over the summer. Yep, James Marsters played Spike. He naturally has dark hair, but he's getting... old looking, you know? In a few years I'm afraid he'll resemble Mick Jagger.

Well I still need to wait until Monday to get the results. The doc's office called today to say they got the results so now my mom's freaking the hell out knowing that they know what's up but we don't yet. She's such a hypochondriac it's embarrassing!

Yes, but it's probably a case of 'no news is good news'- if there was something really wrong, they'd probably want to see you right away, don't you think?

I guess. The doctor's secretary did phone, but didn't encourage me to change my appointment, just to make sure I had one. The results came in faster than I was told they would, too.

Wow! What a weekend. It's so funny, I'm sure I would have heard about this firsthand from Derek, but he took the weekend off because he's sick :( He was looking forward to seeing your mom at the bookstore though, and he knows I would have loved the story about the lady whose water broke! Congratulations to her, it is sweet that she has a Valentine's baby!

He missed some excitement then :) I saw Derek on the subway a couple weeks ago but forgot to mention my mom would be at the store that weekend. Oh well. Plus, I ran into Angie Massos on the subway last week, too. She asked me if you guys were engaged. I was like, "Um, not as far as I know." I guess gossip among former R.H. Kingers continues.
