John was in his office going over paperwork and making notes for contingency lessons if he found anything else in the car's engine that shouldn't be there.

Talking to Dean had gotten Sam thinking enough about the past that he decided to try to talk to his dad. He stopped at the door to his office and peered inside for a moment before knocking gently.

John looked up, smiling when he saw who it is. "Hey," he said, setting aside what he was working on.

"Hey. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" Sam asked, coming in nonetheless.

"Nothing that can't wait," John told him.
