I think I had something similar back in January. It didn't freeze my computer but it did disable all my antivirus protocols and left me with a very very broken computer.
My comp guy still has it. I'm on a loaner he gave me.
That's terrible :( I didn't realise you could activate a virus by closing the window. I had a google for it and apparently the safe way to close a pop-up like that is via the Task Manager - no help for you now, but something we should all remember in the future. Hope you don't have to wait long for the laptop to be fixed.
