Ugh.

Well, in light of my recent and incredibly lengthy mood theme create-a-thon, it should come to probably absolutely no one's surprise that I've spent the last couple days caught up in the act of revisiting the Gargoyles fandom and doing much musing on the subject.

Ya'll, I just have to say I honestly can't explain how much this show means to me. I ( Read more... )

gods, girl, write tha damn fic. you've gotten the hard part, the generation (ideation), done with. besides, even if you only submit it, say, here, it'd be a little less in your head and maybe stop frustrating you so much.
We artists have this problem where sometimes we have to make something so it can be out of our heads, and live on its own.

But I don't really have the "ideation" part done (despite the fact that I just rambled on forever): I'm also having problems with actually just developing out the story itself. I wouldn't so much mind getting the idea out if I thought it actually had somewhere to go.

Gah, my muse is on crack. >_

Well... my first completed Gargoyles fic is on the archive. And if you want to see the sort of CRACK I wrote, go look at it. I got flames, I got "omg this is hilarious" and I got a lot of mixed reactions. Suffice to say, anything and everything I write is utter crack. And in that, I made a bit of a name for myself in the fandom.

That and there are a lot of people who write shemale Demona/Elisa and shemale Delilah... among other fucked up shit. XD

I say write your fic ideas. I think you'd be a great addition to the fandom. :)

Which archive are we talking about here? Because now I'm curious in that driving-past-a-car-wreck kind of way.

The other thing, of course, is my horrible tendency to start writing and something and then stop. "Frozen" will get finished someday, I swear...

Seriously. Write the fic; I can guarantee you that it's not too crack-addled. This is a show that introduced Elisa/Goliath UST from the get-go, and that was before things got complicated. The canon ain't afraid.

I don't remember who Dracon is because it has been way too long since I saw that show, but oh man. Gargoyles shares space with Animorphs as one of the two fandoms that have had the greatest possible influence on why I write what I write now. Long before I discovered Stephen King and his eerie, fantastic way with language, I was learning how to handle moral ambiguity and ensembles from the Gargoyles writers and from K.A. Applegate.

Seriously. Your post has made me so very tempted to order the DVDs now.

(And don't worry about your reliance on CCs. We all have quirks like that that we hate in our own writing, but honestly aren't that big a deal to people reading the work. I've forbidden myself from using prophetic dreams, telepathic communication, or fairytale/knighthood metaphors ever again.)

Yeah, well, I keep telling myself no more "New villian worse than the old one appears and kicks the old villian's ass, causing the old villian to team up with the hero and get reformed" stories, but nooo...

Oh, but that's such a great fangirl stand-by. So much better than "old villain becomes good through power of luuurve", anyway.
