haha! i'm no longer allowed to comment in feminist_sex (i had been banned from making posts a while ago, but it's now extended to commenting). so i'm making my comments here, in response to: http://community.livejournal.com/feminist_sex/27746.html.
"What causes vanillaness?"
That depends on how you define "vanillaness"--if you mean egalitarian sex, radical feminism caused it for me. If you mean right wing sex--i never had that curse, fortunately. unfortunately, i had the porn/romance/bdsm cocktail, and was under that influence for far too long.
nothing is foolproof. i do think we live in a COVERT (and overt, but i wanted to emphasize the mundanity of bdsm in our world) dominant, sadistic society, but if things were strictly, simply causational, we'd still have the slavery of black people (we still do in some countries), women still wouldn't have suffrage (although in kuwait, women didn't have the vote until either 2005 or 2006), etc. although there is a definite status quo, power is contested and there are people working in opposition to it.
