Happy Black and Orange Day!

I don't do Halloween.

I stopped trick-or-treating when I was 13, because I have better things to do. Like the internet. Or video games. Or sleeping.

Not that I won't hand out candy for like an hour, but otherwise I really don't give a fuck about Halloween and no longer see the point of dressing up as anything.

I don't get why anyone my age would still ( Read more... )

Uhhh... I don't think maturity has anything to do with it. People with a passion for the macabre (like myself, heehee) love dressing up for Halloween. Doesn't mean I act like a kid or anything, it's just a way to express myself creatively and have fun doing it. :)

Maybe. I've never been able to get over the idea that dressing up for Halloween is a kid's activity. It stems from the reason I stopped when I turned 13: "I'm a teenager now, teenagers don't do as many kid things as I used to do!" and that's basically stuck in my head since then.

Admittedly, the one place I will most likely dress up for anything, at least once, is an anime con. But I'm still a virgin to them, so maybe someday!~

I'm feeling a bit bah humbug about Halloween myself this year. I have a 5 year old, and she's real excited of course. And a husband who felt compelled to trash the house while decorating the foyer and front window for the handful of trick or treaters we will be getting. So perhaps my lack of enthusiasm is merely to temper the passion of those around me.

Oh dear, lol. I feel sorry for you. My family never puts up decorations. The most we do for Halloween, sometimes, is put this little flower pot thing with a metal pumpkin decoration on it on the front porch.

We never have Christmas lights. And nowadays I'm lucky to even get a tree.

What's your daughter going to be? When I was her age, all I ever dressed as was a fairy princess.

Well, after buying her a fancy dress in case she wanted to be a princess, as well as some cat ears and a bunny mask, she ended up buying a crayon costume when she was out with her Daddy yesterday. So I guess that's what she's going to be! Well, the other costume stuff can be used for dress up anytime so it's not a total waste.
