"It is limiting in that the adventures can’t be published elsewhere (actually with that in mind - how did Luke win this year? His Cthulhutech adventures were already available up on the web?!? :P)

I believe the idea behind the prior publishing is to avoid copyright issues with those who have published it. Giving people copies of your own scenario beforehand isn't considered publication.

And also, I'm not sure that you're restricted from subsequently publishing it. For this reason a couple of people have withheld their SDC entries from distribution on the website.

That is correct. Subsequent publication is OK, though it is recommended that the writer should make it known to the subsequent publisher that Kapcon has already published it.

This year had a couple of new competitors. One of them even did pretty well, getting second place on their first attempt. ;)

I recently compiled a list of SDC entrants. There has been 12 all up. Success (predictably) tends to promote repeat entries. However, last year had a really nice spread of entrants of both old and new:

Matt - 9 (2 with Debbie)
Donna - 7
Luke - 4
Jenni S - 3
Richard Love - 2
Frank Pitt - 1
Nick Pitt - 1
Paul Wilson - 1
LARP Group - 1
Mash - 1
Sophie - 1

Also, FWIW I intend to run some SDC entries in the coming years.
