Unable to Post in the Suggestions Forum... anonymous January 8 2010, 13:03:25 UTC
Sorry to bother you here, but I already sent an e-mail to forums@adultfanfiction.net about these two subjects, which in return was sent back to me.

1. I’ve been unable to post in the Suggestions Forum as a guest. I’ve read the FAQs thoroughly and filled in the correct boxes for my question, but the six character code refuses to show up. I don’t know if this is a problem on my end or what. AOL sent the e-mail I directed to the above address back to me, citing difficulties with the connection.

2. Searching through the Forums, it took me a while to find the list of Story Codes/Warnings and their appropriate definitions. Is there any way they can be linked/posted to the Entry Page or Central Index for a (greater) ease of understanding for readers? Or, am I missing their presence on these particular pages?

Thank you in advance.

first of all, sorry for the misdirect on the email. That is now affforums@gmail.com (the mail server is fubar'd and the hosting company has yet to fix it, hence the change). Could you show me where you got the email from, and I'll correct it.

If you're posting as a guest, you must be sure to enable scripts in your browser, as the function requires a script for the code box for recaptcha codes to show up. AOL's browser can be tricky at BEST for working with any kind of forum software, or for that matter, anything php driven at all. It's a known issue with their browser.

The Story Codes/Warning are actually linked to in the user panel. I can certainly look in to adding that as an option in the pages themselves, as well.

I hope that helps, and if not, tell me what else you have questions on and I'll do my best to assist.

Thank you for the quick reply. anonymous January 9 2010, 14:53:15 UTC
1. Member Tools to the Member Directory to DemonGoddess061's Account/Profile - i.e. I retrieved the forums@adultfanfiction.net e-mail address from your personal page.

2. Okay. I'm planning to officially register as a site member when I get around to buying myself a new laptop. Of course, I'll be changing my internet provider in the process. Truly, I'm tired of dealing with AOL's past, present, and (most likely) future bugs/errors.

3. Again, thank you for the quick response and for taking my Story Codes/Warnings suggestion into consideration. You've been very helpful.

Have a pleasant day.

I kind of thought that the mail addresses might be in my archive profile. Was the ONE place I didn't look. So, I changed that earlier.

Thanks for letting me know where it was.

database & memcached anonymous April 28 2010, 20:20:19 UTC
I was wondering if you guys implemented memcached at any point. http://memcached.org/ It would help significantly with speed & page load and also take a bit of stress off of the db. I work for a website that receives upwards of 3 million unique pageviews per week; memcached has been a godsend.

I have to check with the other gal, and I will CERTAINLY look in to it myself. Anything that will help out the database, is a good thing.

The biggest problem is the actual size of the damn thing you know. We've got something that we worked out that should help in that aspect, but we'll see how that goes too.
