The Pittsburgh Parking Court is horrible.

I just had a surreal experience dealing with a parking ticket. The Pittsburgh Parking Authority has a really stupid speech interface when you call to deal with your ticket. It asks you what you want to do, but you can only say two things!  "Pay a ticket" or "get information".  I said, "speak to customer service," and I also pressed 0 at the same ( Read more... )

I once fought a street sweeping ticket at the Pittsburgh parking court. I paid the ticket, but the court folks lost my cheque. It is very convenient -- you drive there during court hours, walk in, wait 10 minutes or so for a trial slot, go explain what happened, and the judge tries to do the fair thing. (In my case, she dismissed the ticket, since I had gone to all the effort of going down there.)

Don't bother trying to interact with these folks via mail or phone. They can't be bothered. But if you go down and visit them, they are fairly pleasant to deal with, and somewhat reasonable.
