I like the parental approval. It's one of my favourite scenes in Excalibur, when Uther approves Merlin and Arthur's bond.

About time Uther came to his senses. I loved that both Merlin and Arthur are still dealing with the aftereffects of all this. I also liked that Gaius stood up to Uther - as he needed to do.

It always takes him a while. And yes - consequences requiring comfort are all right by me!

I have a soft spot for the Uther&Gaius scene - they're old friends and they need to be honest with each other.

EEEEEEE!!! That was my reaction all the way through this. ^_^ But ESPECIALLY after the Uther/Gaius interaction, which was just LOVE. And it's wonderful to see Uther like this; not ridiculously soft, not a caricature, but a good man who made some terrible decisions in a bad moment.

Also, Merlin and Arthur? PURE LOVE. *runs off to re-read*

:D Uther/Gaius is my guilty pleasure, I'll admit; Gaius can bring out that softer side of him, as we saw in Excalibur.

*happy sigh* How do you manage to torture these two so much and still give them a happy ending? And Uther! I think I love him a little bit, this chapter. As always, I adore the relationship between Merlin, Arthur, Morgana, Gwen, and Gaius. (whew!) The way they all look out for each other is wonderful!

LOL! I'm a hurt/comfort girl - I've been practising the art for about nine years now! I always manage to redeem Uther at the end, somehow.

The interaction between those five characters is fun; I wish they had more scenes together in canon.
