Amazon and "Adult Content" (#amazonfail)

Amazon have removed all books with "adult material" from the rankings. This includes books with LGBT characters, erotic scenes and sexuality of the disabled.What does this mean? Amazon rankings affect the appearance of books in the search engine, the bestseller lists and the "books recommended for you" section. If "homosexuality" is entered into ( Read more... )

I have no idea what happened. I'm torn between the "ARGH MISTAKE!" argument and the "All The Gay Must Be Kept From The Children" idea, that isn't exactly uncommon.

I don't think it was a problem. I think a lot of things got mislabelled as "adult" and stashed away somewhere, though apparently all the straight porn and sex toys were missed - go figure.

Whoa, seriously? How did I miss this?! And since when did books with LGBT characters automatically become 'adult' books?

WTF?!

Oh, I'm just now reading the other comments posted here and now I'm not quite so upset. Knee-jerk reaction to homophobia, I'm afraid. You can't really blame me, though, given the current state of affairs every time we turn around.
