How the hell did you get those lightning shots? I've always wondered about that.

I never stopped shooting, that's how. I took literally 500 photos.

It would have been easier to catch the trail lightning with a manual camera. Since I'm using a digital camera, there's a shutter delay of 0.5 to 1 second. I had to hit the shutter BEFORE the lightning to catch it. I caught three or four "inner cloud" lightning bolts )which stayed in the sky longer it seemed), but it just looked like day outside in the photos, so they were of little use.

It was nuts. I think we might have gotten some hail here in Chesterfield (not sure...I didn't go out until later). First big storm of the season, yay!

Awesome! Photography has been one of the most rewarding things I have done, and I can't say I don't like positive feedback, so thanks, and enjoy shooting! Do you have standard equipment or a digital or are you still deciding?

I just got a new Nikon 8800 .And planning to to some nice place and begin...
I am not aware of all its features yet so just experimentiong.Ant pointers on keeping the hand steady and not have a shaken pic?

Tripods are great when the situation permits. Otherwise I just pull my elbows to my chest for support, and I tend to hold my breath while the shutter is about to open.
