I'm sure he does, we needed it for our visa application. Would that help? Even if they let him into the country, they're bound to be arsy about him not having a stamped visa :-(

I'm pretty sure it will all be sorted tomorrow, Gary seems to think that the second guy he talked to was really helpful and knowledgeable, he just didn't get to talk to that guy until the end of the day after the embassy was closed.

Still freaking out, and probably will be now until he has it in his hand. Better yet, until I have it in *my* hand when I look at the visa when he gets here...

Wow. This is like a compilation of all the things that happened to us; so much so that I had to think of a second to figure out if it had happened to us.

It didn't. But plenty of ugly things did, and they did make me despair and freak out. And they all worked out fine eventually.

AAAAHHH!!!

But I'm sure it will be fine. If they've acknowledged they've lost it, then they have to take responsibility for the consequences - like getting a new passport from the UK home office ASAP, and issuing a new visa free of charge.

Yeah, but what freaks me out is they can say all they want "We lost it! It was us! They don't deserve any consequences!" and the passport issuing people may very well say back "Not our problem, back of the queue."

*deep breaths*

I'm certain they can issue him a temporary visa and passport - it's their fuckup, they have to be able to get him "home". Which is the US, as of 2 weeks from now.
