I shouldn't be laughing? But, oh wait, I am!

I know I probably should nod furiously with all this and all that...

but I find the TV Tropes assessment of the Faux Action Girl effing hilarious.

And yes, I totally agree with the Sakura part. Cause she's so damn awesome and we're told she's so damn awesome, but we don't get to see it very often. Yeah, yeah, this is a shonen manga, Kishimoto ( Read more... )

this is what happens when..., naruto - sakura, naruto

Most of the ones they named, when I thought about it. I had to agree. ^^; Saya of Blood + not nearly as bad-assed as her predecessor from Blood The Last Vampire. In fact, while Blood the Last Vampire Saya gets injured and nearly killed. She still managed to be more badassed than Blood + Saya.

I'm not much of a Naruto fan, but I do agree the girl could use more screen time, to showcase those skills of hers. <3

I hadn't really thought about it, but with Saya it did make a lot of sense. Poor Saya; she was totally supposed to be this super incredible awesome fighting machine and it often fell a bit flat.

Even though... I still love the parts that have Sakura in it, best.

Yep, most of her major fights outside of mooks, she had to be aided by someone else. Like Solomon and Haji helped her defeat most of the chevaliers. Haji was the one who killed Amshel. The only major villain Saya killed on her own was Diva and that was at the end of the series. All other encounters with Diva. Diva wiped the floor with Saya.

The Street Fighter movie reference about "even Chun Li got to showcase her skills against Bison" made me laugh so hard. Cause yeah it was true. She tricked him into thinking she was helpless and then BAM, she broke her chains and started whooping his ass. That was probably the most entertaining scene in that whole crappy movie. ^^;

From what I have seen and read of Naruto, Sakura was definitely one of the entertaining characters. <3

OMG, yes. I love shonen series, don't get me wrong, but sometimes, they can be so utterly boring. Almost universally, they're more interesting in the beginning before they start massively powering up every other chapter. And in general, they have this one awesome female character who gets less and less screentime as the series goes on until she's basically removed. ;_; I remember Bulma from Dragonball.

Sakura was soooo awesome, even in the beginning. Kishimoto said her obsession with Sasuke was a deliberate character flaw and I loved that. The only unfortunate thing is that she grew out of it and then wasn't given much further screen time. ALAS.
