OMG, YES! I LOVE GREN! He was so pretty and for some reason, I kept thinking he was like the one person in the whole world who might have changed Vicious... and then I remember Vicious was a bastard and maybe not. Jupiter Jazz I and II were just so frickin' sad. At first, I thought it would totally be about Faye and her attempts to live off Bebop, but then it was about Gren and his music and that music box and his almost-inability to let go of Vicious in any shape or form.
And it might be the fangirl in me, but Vicious and Gren? TOTALLY HAWT. TOGETHER.
I cannot believe I forgot to check back on this post until now. XD;
Gren is still one of my absolute favourite characters. That music box, the giving of the music box, kills me every freaking time because Gren appreciates music. X3 It's a shame there's so little fic about him, but as with so many things in Bebop, I'm really not sure what else could be done with him that would improve the poignance of his story.
And, yes. XD; I was completely won over by Vicious/Gren. Imagining the rest of their campaign, up to the betrayal, gives me goosebumps.
I admit, I feel a bit (A BIT?) biased toward Snape, so I have this unhealthy disregard for Dumbledore and all his machinations. Of course, in the same vein, you got to respect the old man for pulling off ruthless actions for the greater good. Maybe.
The two of them are both in balance and off-balance to me; I always felt that if Dumbledore told Snape to jump off a cliff, Snape might curse and grumble and take a few Gryffindor's off with him, but he'd jump in the end. And if it meant that a lot of people could be saved, I sometimes think Dumbledore would tell him to do it. But sometimes, I think I'm being too harsh on the old guy; he was doing what he could to win a war and maybe you need something like that to win. Though, it'd be kind of interesting to someone tackle the idea that the side of 'good' got so entrenched into responding the way they do, that post-War, it would be little more than vigilante society.
And yeah, I'm in the camp that totally thinks that there was a reason for the deathspell

I haven't read past the chapter where Aizen asks Orihime to 'help' him (I won't make a bad pun, I won't make a bad pun), so I don't know if more of their backstory has been revealed, but what I have read makes me think of baby kittens being killed. No, seriously. When we first met Gin in the manga, I was like, oh, there he is, classic smiling villain and then he wasn't, not exactly anyhow. He smiled all the time (have we seen his eyes open yet?) and he managed to make his smiles sorrowful. That's what gets me everytime, methinks. Remember that part where he escapes with Aizen and he looks back at her and there's that smile on his face? I just go to pieces when I think about it.
Since I don't read a whole lot of Bleach fic, I admit, I'm more of a Gin/Aizen girl and ahem Rangiku/Tatsuki... though, I don't think that has much to do with story rather than hot smex. ;)
OMG, you know, I'd never even entertained the thought of Lina and Zelgadis before fandom; I was all about Amelia and Zel, Lina and Gourry, Xellos and Filia (tee hee!). Or rather, I was way, way about Amelia. She was my favorite character in the series, because she was so damn earnest and cute and eccentric and I just liked her! Also, I found it hilarious that Amelia acted mostly like a princess when she was away from Lina and co., and then miraculously had an about face every single time they traveled together. Same thing with her dad; Amelia's most passionate justice speeches come when her dad is around and the two of them are like some weird justice-spewing machine. XD
I suppose, also, the knowledge that Amelia is so cheerful and happy and yet we know that something happened to her mother and that her elder sister couldn't take and took off. For me, that was one of the defining things about Amelia for me. I guess it's also an anime/manga character I tend to like, because she looks at the positive side of things and can

This one is too tempting. Going to have to go with my new favorite Saiunkoku pairing (and the subject of my icon) - Ensei/Seiran!! Oh, and your thoughts on Kouyuu/Shuurei as well.
I hated his beard, OMG, I hated it so much. It looked terrible on him and so fake and I just wanted to rip it off. And I kept thinking that Seiran was like, "nuh uh, no way you're kissing me with that on, take off or NO SNUGGLES FOR YOU." and Ensei was like, *weep*, but he did it anyway because who wouldn't want snuggles from Seiran?
As for Kouyuu and Shuurei... I was more of a Kouyuu and Shuuei girl if only because I'm superficial and they look too cute together. Shuuei's so calm and collected and such a perv and Kouyuu is all blustery and irritation-imbued and kind of innocent of it all and I can just see Shuuei creeping up on him.
Though, god, Shuurei, I LOVE this girl. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. Throughout the first twenty or some episodes it was totally not about the romance for her. She had an Emperor chasing after her and she was like PSHAW PERVERT I WANT TO BE AN OFFICIAL, and I was like, DUDE, YOU ARE MY HERO. Shuurei is class 1 all the way and I didn't even care that the series was originally marketed toward young girls with a
