[It's a little while before Saki can make herself go in there. Hovering outside, tucked in a shadow, unseen and twisting her hands in a pique. Souji has had a constant stream of visitors but she eventually slips in when the room is empty - or as near to empty as can be.

She forces herself to look at his face.]

How are you feeling?

[He's surprised to see her here. Of course, she knows what happened, but -

He remembers all the things Adachi said, his voice full of a delighted sort of malice, and feels sick. But he looks up at her, at her face.

I'm alright. [As ever.] What about you? Yosuke... last night, he said you were outside?

Yeah. I'm fine, [said a bit quickly, a bit curtly.]

You - I'll take over at the inn, you don't need to worry about that. [Her hands find a chair and grip the top of it, not just partly for support.]

Look, for what it's worth - [she pauses, setting her expression to near steeliness] - I'm glad. You made the right choice.

[His initial response would have him arguing, he can do it, it's alright - but he knows that's just stupid of him, and nods.] I appreciate it, Konishi-san.

[At her next words, he turns silent. His gaze drops to the sheets, but then he makes himself look up again. His voice is even, earnest.]

I should have acted sooner. But I didn't. And for that... I'm sorry.

Hey, easy, partner.

[Yosuke puts his hand on Souji's shoulder and applies enough pressure to suggest that Souji should lie back down. He gives a thin, taught little smile at him.] Always running around and doing everything... take a breather, okay? You need one.

[He complies, knowing it's sense. But it takes a moment for him to meet Yosuke's eyes. He's happy to see him, safe and unharmed, but still...]

How long have I been out for?

Pretty much all yesterday, man. It's the 25th... and it's kinda late, partner.

[He frowns, eyeing the window again, then nods.]

...how is everyone?

[ She's sitting there on a chair, slightly swinging her legs back and forward idly until she notices Souji waking up. And then she looks.. well, unsure, awkward. Very worried, mostly, and maybe a bit sad too.

She does try to smile a little for Souji, really, if not just to give him some reassurement, but it's difficult. ]

[He hadn't thought, but - he should have. (Should have thought about so much, right?)

He manages a smile for her, holding out a hand.

Wondering how much she knows.]

Hey, lil sis.

[ She immediately grabs the hand with one of her own when she sees him holding out, although she makes sure to be careful - the least she can try now is to be a little thoughtful. ]

Are you.. feeling okay? [ Her words come out slowly, hesitantly, but she tries to smile too. ] Maybe you should sleep some more.

I've slept enough. Don't worry. [He squeezes her fingers in his, lightly.] Are you alright?

[chie's been in and out, in and out, a bundle of anxious energy since they brought souji to the infirmary. she'd taken the time to shed her makeshift armor and clean herself up a bit; under protest, she'd attempted to rest a little, but only succeeded in a short, restless nap full of unsettling dreams.

she heads back to the infirmary once again as the sun starts to set, to pace the floor beside his bed and fret about what to do next. she's pleasantly relieved to find her friend awake.]

Souji-kun!

[He smiles when she comes in. It's still a little wan, a little weak, but it's earnest, and he's happy to see her again.]

Hey. Are you alright?

[heavyheels]

Ha - of course I am.

[a few bruises are already starting to show on her face - she's sore and bruised everywhere else, too - but that doesn't stop chie from smiling widely. she collects a chair and pulls it over to the side of souji's bed to sit with him.]

What about you? When did you wake up?

[He watches her as she does so, as if to verify her words for himself. He's not certain it's entirely true, but, anyway - ]

Not that long ago. Have you rested?

I was beginning to wonder when you were going to wake back up.

[His voice is calm, tugging one of his gloves tighter onto one of his hands to keep them from being idle.]

Don't push yourself too hard. It's more important that you rest, even if he'll eventually come back to life. If he's dumb enough to rear his head, leave that to me.

[There is anger in his voice, though he keeps his gaze averted from Souji. It's not because of him that his blood is still boiling.]

[He looks over at Ryu, first the movement of his hands, then up at his face. His brow knits.]

I can’t… leave him to anyone else.

[He half-sighs, still exhausted if not more than a little ashamed.] Not after this.

I don't think you're in any condition to say that, Souji, and you know it.

[He shakes his head.] I’ll be back on my feet soon, thanks to our healers.
