I join you in that sadness. He was absolutely marvelous for that part and did a smashing job at it! He made me hate him and laugh at him simultaneously. Only Mel Gibson has been able to affect me that way, until this performance by Heath. Really good actors are rare.

I think there are a few good actors out there. What it probably boils down to is that there are very few dedicated actors out there. People on the set of The Dark Knight all say that Heath was so involved in this character that he fell into. That he really was the Joker. That kind of determination made me smile ear to ear the first time I saw this movie. He took peoples breathe away. It is so sad though..

Well...yeah...that's what I was saying without being more specific. The dedicated actors are the one's who are the most convincing and Mel and Heath were among the few.

It is always sad when someone dies from anything but old age. He and his good work will be missed...the stuff he could have done. It was what I liked about Bruce Lee...he was a dedicated Martial artist and no one has ever been able to surpass him so far. Not just his skills but he was a persona as well, and he was a nice person off the set.

That is true. There are so many extraordinary people with such great persona who leave too soon. I feel horrible about Bernie Mac passing as well.

Your artwork is lovely by the way.

Howdy. I'm starting at Columbia in a few weeks too. Are you undergrad or grad?

Hi there.
I am currently finishing up a BA at Columbia. Grad student? What is your field? Excited about the fall semester? I am going to add you to facebook if you don't mind.

Hi. Yep, incoming East Asian Languages & Cultures MA. Never hurts to know a few more people. :) I'm thrilled to be starting, though coordinating a cross-continental move is kind of awkward as I'm still in Asia until Friday. How have you enjoyed your experience at Columbia?

Were you in Beijing for the opening of the Olympics?! I can not imagine the logistical work that is entailed with a move you are about to embark on. I would approach it as an exciting adventure. Columbia so far has been very interesting. It is not called the academic powerhouse of the Ivy League for no reason. The student body despite what level is extremely diverse. It is kind of swim or sink over here however there are many warm and affable students and an intellectual conversation is at ever corner. If Asian L & C is your field I am sure you are going to have a great time. Have you ever been to New York?
