servers

At the current time, there are only two servers for The World. It began with Mac Anu, and the server Lumina Cloth opened in August 2010. Each server has a Root Town that you carry out your business in, as well as a level bracket for access and to adjust item availability and the level and type of the areas available. As the game progresses, there will be "patch updates" and more features will become available, as well as more servers to disperse the playerbase! It wouldn't be good to stress the "system" now, would it?

  • Delta Server Δ - Root Town: Eternal City Mac Anu
  • Levels: 1~50

  • Theta Server Θ - Celestial City Dol Dona
  • Levels: 20~100

  • Omega Server Ω - Warring City Lumina Cloth
  • Levels: ALL

root towns

Eternal City Mac Anu

Mac Anu is a steampunk-styled port town entirely caught at sunset. The town is warm and building designs are fairly blocky, with a rounded roof here and there. Everyone wakes up beside Mac Anu's Chaos Gate, and once you leave the building there, you walk down over a long, narrow bridge and directly into Mac Anu's square. Guild shops set up in the square to sell and trade their goods. You can head to the top left and find the Quest Kiosk, and take a left to follow the trail down by the gondolas and find the alchemy shop and weapons shop #2. If you head to the top right from the square, you'll travel through the city's streets and around a few corners, then over another small bridge that takes you to the port. The Mechanic shop is on the right, with the ports and a large docked ship on the left. You can go back then and around a few more corners to find the Mercenary district, with the weapons & armor shops and the @Home for all Delta Server guilds.

From Mac Anu, you can access the grassland field areas, cave dungeons, and shrine dungeons on the Delta Server.

Warring City Lumina Cloth

Lumina Cloth is a hub of modernization and excitement-- it's main attraction is the Arena, where legit PVP battles can be handled year-round with the annual arena tournament, and all players have a chance to take on the three Arena Emperors in level brackets to become the new Emperor. There's the Demon Emperor, Holy Emperor, and Sage Emperor, for level brackets 1~20, 21~50, and 50+ respectively. There's a large arcade halfway between the Chaos Gate warp point smack in the middle of Lumina Cloth and the Arena building, where any manner of video/3D/manual game can be found. Board games, PS2 games, wii games, retro 3D shooters, pinball machines, put put golf-- you name it! If you go down the right stairs before the Arena building, you can take a long, narrow path down and around the Arena to the other side, where a Black Market dealer NPC is. There's also a special @Home for Arena Emperors behind the Chaos Gate, about the same distance back as the Arena building is forward. It's perpetually night-time, the stars barely visible under the harsh glow of the neon lights.

There are no field areas or dungeons accessible from Lumina Cloth. Players can only transfer from one root town to the other in Lumina Cloth.

Celestial City Dol Dona

Dol Dona is the town inhabited largely by the beast races in The World, built from natural resources and taking advantage of the sprawl of the land. It's located between two cliffs, eternally green in grass and moss. The town is set at noon, much like Mac Anu at sunset and Lumina Cloth at night. The Chaos Gate is on a cliff to the south, with a large gate to the north leading to the center of town. The Quest Kiosk stands in the center facing the gate with the magic, weapon, armor, and accessory shops around the sides of the quest building. There's also a number of guild shops circled along the cliff walls around the quest kiosk, with a long winding path to the north leading down to the @Home and the bike shop.

From Dol Dona, you can access the above types of fields and dungeons from Delta Server from level 20 and up, then canyon field areas and jungle dungeons on the Theta Server.

areas

There are currently two types of areas. There's field areas, which are out in the open and have two different objectives: find and defeat the boss monster or collect three symbol fragments from scattered, monster-guarded chests to get into the underground treasure shrines in the middle of the field. Both choices offer a final item better than the usual items gained from monster battles. Field areas usually have the same scenery, but the geography changes as well as the time of day and weather conditions. There's bright sunny days (wind), grey foggy days (electric), rainy afternoons (water), sunsets (fire), and dark nights (darkness). Grassland areas are sprawling grassy plains with the occasional plateau. Canyon areas are in a desert-like cliffside, with perilous drops and thin rock bridges.

The other areas are dungeons, which have only one objective: reach the beast statue at the lowest level of the dungeon.

Cave dungeons are fairly dank and lit by holes in the "ceiling" where waterfalls enter on the sides, and the bioluminescent fungi glow alongside the pathways. There's also Chim Chims in the walls of most of the antechambers, which naturally glow as well. Dungeons can be as shallow as two levels to as deep as ten levels.

Temple dungeons are outdoors at sunset, where you run down a central path until you enter one of the shinto shrine-styled building sections and fight monsters within, gathering chim spheres to open doors to exit the block. You then go through a covered outdoor path with temple gardens on either side, and enter another building, continuing until you reach the room with the beast statue.
