Well, there are different... translations of what she says. I've seen both versions in online scripts and quotes. But it doesn't really matter - I shortened some of the other quotes so it's not all exact.

awesome! I can vaguely remember, back in my younger days when I had just seen Firefly for the first time- I didn't really like River. I didn't *not* like her, but yeah. she was just there, as you said- a plot device much of the time.

and now being older and wiser (hee, that's terrifying) I want to kick myself for ever NOT caring about her. every time I rewatch FF/S, I'm that much more fascinated by her and her journey. you've articulated quite a bit here that I think when I River comes to mind.

Really? I adored her right from the start. I remember telling my friend she was my fave "even though she's not a main character" :D I've always identified with her far too much. It wasn't until I did the spam that I realised we don't actually get to see much of her character, as compared to his other characters like Cordy or Topher. But what we do see is pretty awesome and it doesn't make her journey any less epic.

River is such an amazing character. She's beautiful in a non-traditional way and fascinating and just, well, amazing! I love every River moment in the series and movie, but I think Objects in Space is my favorite because of the glimpse into her world that we catch from it. That beginning scene was just beautifully done with the leaves and the branch/gun. And the dance scene from Safe... Also a favorite of mine! Haha, thanks so much for sharing this! The graphics are lovely, and I think I'm going to go pop in my Firefly DVDs. I'm due for a rewatch anyhow. ^^

Yeah, Objects in Space is brilliant. And that beginning is I think one of Whedon's best scenes :D
