Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I'm reading them again.  Which is ridiculous as I practically know them off by heart.  But I need some light reading to escape from my philosophy and HHG is great for that, especially as there are countless philosophical principles posited, realised and ridiculed in the books.

I have many thoughts.

So one day I want to adapt my favourite books into ( Read more... )

hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy, rantish, douglas adams, at the movies, only i understand zaphod, marvin: the manicly depressed robot, ford prefect is one hoopy frood, trillian is too cool for you, books, marvin has a brain the size of a planet, seth green is nomnom, arthur dent is the epitome of britishnes

A while back, I was pondering who I'd want for the cast if there ever was another adaptation. I went for a complete recast, even though I adored Alan Rickman as Marvin, and Sam Rockwell really fits for Zaphod, and Martin Freeman's brilliant, and Zooey is adorable and cute and perfect.

I wrote it down, somewhere, though I can't find it, and I only remember a few of them. >.< When I do find it though, I'm gonna make a mini-picspam. Might take a while though, so don't worry, it won't seem as if I'm copying you. ^^

Anyway, those I do remember, are Tom Price as Ford (you know who he is, right? He's so funny, and really great <3 ), Keeley Hawes or Andrea Riseborough for Trillian, Claire Thomas for Chance (that's her name in the original right, Chance? See, I've only got the translated version, btu I seem to recall it was Chance when I wiki'd it. ^^), Jack Davenport as the voice of Marvin, and - drum rolls please - as Arthur I have none other than the always amazing Arthur Darvill! :D Don't you think he'd be amazing as Arthur Dent? <3

Alan Rickman was born to play Marvin. Sam Rockwell would potentially be the perfect Zaphod IF HE COULD JUST LEARN TO ACT HIM PROPERLY. But now I really want to recast Trillian as somone "faintly Arabic". And yeah, kinda ruthless, or the potential to be anyway ( ... )

Yes, Random, that's who I meant *smacks forehead* Don't know where Chance came from. XD I know Clare Thomas might be a bit too old now, and I haven't seen her in anything since Young Dracula, but if she still looks younger than she is, then she could work. I think anyway *laughs ( ... )

Aww bb, you're welcome. :D

I haven't read the books, I've only seen the movie, and only saw it once, so I'm afraid I have nothing to say about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. :P

COULDN'T AGREE MORE about Martin Freeman. In fact, this is going to screw me when I go to watch The Hobbit, 'cause I'm gonna be all... 'What's Arthur doing here?'

Agree, Zooey!Trillian was rather girlish.

Lol but he is the epitome of Britishness! :D

She was. She didn't have that quiet, graceful, watchful, intelligent edge that Trillian does. I adore Trillian. Though she kinda goes off the rails later on, she's a cut-throat journalist so I must love her :D Plus she saves the universe in Life, the Universe and Everything.
