The bisexuality double standard always annoys me -- it's pretty much people just assuming Penis > Everything, since bi girls are expected to 'end up straight' and bi guys are assumed to be Secretly All Gay.
I was especially infuriated when Kurt said the male bi thing on Glee. Cos while obviously he was BSing, they didn't make a point of correcting him, really, and the whole episode kinda smacked of Secretly All Gay.
OMG OF COURSE YOU FEEL THE SAME YOU BRAINTWIN YOU!
Also this.
Katy Perry criticised Gaga for using religious imagery in her videos, calling it "like a comedian telling a fart joke". In her next video, Katy shoots cream out of her tits.
Argh don't get me started on Katy Perry. That song just made me think of all young girls (and my friends quite frankly) who got drunk and kissed girls but would get all uppity if you said the "bi" word. That whole kissing each other just to get the boys hot really winds me up, because if it was the other way round girls would act all grossed out and the poor lads who did it would be ridiculed. It's just horrible double standards.
All her songs seem to be about the sexualisation of women. Don't get me wrong, I dress sexy for my husband, over the years I've kissed many boys and girls, and I've enjoyed a privately liberated sex life but I don't allow that to be the basis on how people judge me.
Gender has always been a strong issue for me. I went to an all girls school and I'm proud to say gender equality was instilled from the very start there. We are slowly getting towards a more equal society, however, sexualisation and sexuality is still so massively skewed towards male fantasy.
jhafs;jfasjkhfdssl Kary Perry *shudder* If she and Stephanie Meyer died today, I would not cry. Or feel bad in any way. Does that make me a bad person? Eh.
I hate the double standard so much. (Though I'd love it if two guys made out to impress me........... My friends got our two guy mates to do that once only I TOTALLY MISSED IT AS;DKJFAS;JKFDKJHF)
With Katy Perry though, it's not a good kind of celebrating love sexualisation. It's her pimping herself out to young men so she sells songs.
Ugh "I kissed a girl" :/ And "You're so gay and you don't even like boys" :/ (I read somewhere that it's as offensive as saying "You're so Asian and you're not even Asian" or "You're so disabled and you're not even disabled", heh, and it totally is.)
Oh she is just an abomination to me. She embodies all that I hate: comercialism, selling out, selling out your gender, fuelling stereotypes and intolerant ideas about both women and queer people....
If she died tomorrow I'd probably react the same as when I heard Michael Jackson died. With a big grin.
Out of curiosity - why do you hate Michael Jackson? Answer when you have the time and all, unless you wrote it somewhere in your lj and I didn't get to it yet, then just paste the link. xD
