it should have been a woman writing it

ya know, i totally agree. although i will argue that for what it was, an action film, it was good. it did its job as an action film. but it would have been better if it were more of a serious drama and a woman wrote it. who better to tell the story of female struggles than a female? i liked it though. i don't think it was nearly as fetishy as people say, but then again i am a lot less picky than most people. i don't think it was bad at all, but it could have been better if it were done differently. also your mini-series idea would've worked incredibly well. and ia about emily--her acting was very sub par. the best parts were where she didn't speak--which is, ya know, a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

The thing is, the way he talks about it in interviews it's like Sucker Punch is some feminist revolution movie. And.... no. Plus, I don't think any film or show should be judged as good simply because it ticks the boxes of a genre.

I think the fetish was subtle. But then, male fetishes are so ingrained in our culture now it's hard to distinguish them from social assumptions.

It's such a shame that she didn't act better because we know she can be brilliant. *sighs*
