They were all at a club to celebrate the victory over team University K. Junsu was sitting at a table and chatting with Minho, Changmin’s teammate.

During the occasional glances sent out to the dancefloor, Junsu caught the sight of Changmin and his girlfriend dancing closely together, their hips joined and Changmin’s hands on Yuri’s waist.

Junsu had known Changmin was very attached to his girlfriend, but could not help his heart aching painfully at what he saw. Between him and Changmin was a sea of people, and Junsu felt like he would never be able to reach out to Changmin.

To stop the painful thought, he would turn back and continue the conversation with Minho. Minho was a freshman at their university. Besides basketball, Changmin and Minho had been very close friends for 6 years, thus Minho was rather surprised when he learnt that Junsu actually was friends with Changmin, even close enough that Changmin had invited Junsu to come to this party personally.

Minho was a very agreeable young man and they were having quite a nice chat. But they were soon to be disrupted.

“Junsu? I don’t know you also go clubbing.” A husky voice was heard. Junsu turned back to a far too familiar face. “Choi Siwon?”

Junsu cursed internally. Had he known Siwon was here too, he would never have agreed to come.

“Don’t call my name in such a way. Makes me feel you hate me,” Siwon sat down very close to Junsu.

“Well, it’s actually not at all far from the truth.” Junsu said.

Minho was looking at Junsu and Siwon, quite puzzled. They seemed to be acquaintances but the former didn’t seem to like the latter’s presence.

“Siwon-ssi, you know Junsu-ssi? He’s a friend Changmin-ssi brought here,” Minho tried. Minho knew Siwon quite well as the son of the President of the Choi group. If Siwon knew the chaebol rules, he would know better than to meddle with a friend of the Shim heir.

But Siwon snarled, “Shim Changmin? Why should I give a damn?” He extended his long arm to push Minho out of his seat. “Get lost!”

Junsu looked at Minho apologetically, eyes also sending the message that he could deal with Siwon alone. Minho reluctantly nodded and left.

“Junsu, why don’t you agree to go out with me?” Siwon asked, his fingers touching Junsu’s chin, “There isn’t anything you want that I can’t give.” Siwon reeked of alcohol. For that, Junsu resisted the urge to punch the drunkard right then and there.

“Seems like your nose has healed from Yoochun’s punch last time, eh?” Junsu scoffed. Siwon really had got some guts to continue this improriety even after that incident.

“Park Yoochun? I will one day grind Park Yoochun like dead meat,” Siwon gritted his teeth, “The jerk is not here anyway.”

“Don’t those two statements of yours contradict? Promise to grind him like dead meat and yet, see, you’re so relieved he’s not here,” Junsu felt his tolerance used up. “Get lost, Choi Siwon. Don’t make me angry.”

“Junsu-ah, you don’t know that you’re most beautiful when you’re angry?” Siwon curled up his lips, the desire in his eyes apparent. His arm had come to wrap around Junsu’s waist, fingers fondling the skin there. Junsu felt his private space so seriously invaded.

He panickedly contemplated the situation. A drunk Siwon probably would not let him go no matter what threats Junsu gave him. But he had to get out of this situation somehow. Siwon would very well rape him or something, judging from those eyes darkened with alcohol and lust.

Junsu changed his tone.

“Choi Siwon, I don’t want to cause a scene here. Let's talk some other time.”

Siwon smirked. "You think I'm stupid? You managed to avoid me no matter how much I tried to see you. How foxy. But only makes me more determined to have you."

This is really bad.

"Siwon, my friend would not be happy if we cause a scene here. Don't make it hard for me."

“You mean Shim Changmin?” Siwon laughed humorlessly, “Friend, you say? Or more like, another victim? Oh, but maybe not. That brat is as straight as a stick.”

Junsu felt his blood boiled at Siwon's words - he had never had such device to seduce Changmin. And he felt hurt too, because yes, Changmin would never want him - even someone like Siwon could see that Changmin was so straight.

At the same time, he felt goosebumps all over at every touch of Siwon, at the way that bastard was tracing his fingers along his arm. “Ahh!” Junsu let out a painful groan when Siwon suddenly grasped his wrist and pulled him up from the seat. “Let’s go.”

Junsu stumbled. There was probably no other choice but violence. When he had regained balance, he clenched his fist and prepared to land a punch on Siwon’s face ot something.

But his arm had not yet flung out completely when Siwon suddenly collapsed to the ground with a loud thump, along with the sounds of broken glass and fallen tables. Someone had spun Siwon around, and in a matter of seconds had given him a hefty punch, reducing him to a groaning mess on the floor.

Some girls screamed and people immediately moved to stay at least two meters away from where Siwon had been striken down.

Junsu was so astounded, it took him several seconds to finally come to his sense and looked up to see who had brought Siwon down.

Changmin was still panting after smashing Siwon’s face. Beside him, Yuri and Minho had fastened their arms around him to keep him in place.

His eyes met Junsu’s shocked ones.

By now, people had awaken out of stupefaction and started to direct their eyes to Junsu and Changmin - the other parties involved in the scene. Changmin violently shooked his arms out of Yuri’s and Minho’s clenching, stomped forward, making everyone's breath hitch because they all though he was going to punch Siwon more.

But no. He just came in front of Junsu, caught his wrist and pulled him out of the club, leaving behind Yuri, biting her lips with her eyes wide, along with Minho.

They were out in a small, empty alley close to the club. Changmin was smoking his second cigarette. The orange-ish light from the street made their shadows weirly long figures moving around on the ground.

“You smoke?” Junsu asked, out of not knowing how else to commence a conversation.

“Hmmm?” Changmin raised one of his thick eyebrows. “Sorry,” he said next, before dropping the cigarette and grinding on it with his right shoe.

They stayed silent for a few minutes.

“You shouldn’t have done that. I could punch him myself.” Junsu said while internally blaming himself for pulling Changmin into the mess. “I’m not a freaking girl.” He sat down on the wall pipes next to Changmin,

Changmin turned to catch Junsu’eyes for some seconds. The light from the street casted on Changmin’s face, making prominent his sharp cheekbones and his tall nose.

Junsu turned away from Changmin’s intense gaze. A moment later Changmin also looked away.

“Your hands,” Changmin breathed out a cloud of white smoke, “are not for punching people.”

Junsu felt his heart beating so fast.

“Okay then, so your party is ruined.” He changed the topic.

“Nah, not really,” Changmin tsk-ed, “Yuri and Minho are there, they can take care of things. If it’s too bad I’ll just have my dad go talk things over with the old Choi.” Changmin was referring to Siwon’s father, the current president of Choi group.

“Such a daddy’s boy.” Junsu mocked.

“Well, at least if I’m caught in photos, it wouldn’t look so bad as if it’s you.”

That was true. If anyone took pictures and Junsu was shown in any, the media would make a fuss. Unlike normal celebrities, classical musicians have much “purer” images to protect, so to speak.

Junsu suddenly felt bad. Changmin had even thought about that while he himself totally hadn’t, and because of that, the whole celebration thing was ruined for Changmin. Changmin was supposed to be the one enjoying it most, as he was the hero of the game, but now he also had to worry about the consequences of the brawling just now.

“Sorry,” finally Junsu said. He thought for a while and then added, “Can’t make up for your wasted energy, but I can make up for the party.”

“Hmm?”

“It’s only 9:30,” Junsu looked at the screen of his phone and sat up. “Let’s go.”

Changmin followed Junsu into the bar, lit with warm orange light, not too dimly. Stained glass. A live band. Changmin had been here before, that time with Park Yoochun.

“That’s klezmer,” said Junsu, “Eastern European Jewish music.”

“Oh.” Changmin said in awe. Certainly not some kind of music easily found in Seoul.

“Yunho-hyung! Jaejoong-hyung!” Junsu called to the two people behind the bar counter. One was a tall, pretty man with slanted eyes and heart-shaped lips. The other was slightly shorter - very handsome, quite muscular with long, beautiful eyes.

“This is Yunho-hyung, the owner of this bar,” Junsu motioned his hand to the taller one and then to the shorter, “This is Jaejoong-hyung.” He then turned to the two and said, “This is Changmin.”

They shook hand. Changmin recognized one of them, Jaejoong, as the cellist in the duo with Junsu as the pianist. He had seen the man when he walked to the backstage after Junsu’s performance once.

Junsu looked at the menu. “What’d you want?” he asked Changmin. “For the punch you just gave Siwon, what about this cocktail called ‘Incredible Hulk’?”

“Sounds cool,” Changmin laughed. “What about you, ‘Pink Lady’? Or ‘Bloody Mary’?”

Junsu gave him a glare, then he turned to Yunho. “Just strawberry vodka on the rock, hyung."

Changmin felt it was so hilarious. Strawberry vodka? A choice hardly any less feminine than 'Pink Lady'.

They looked at how Yunho expertly prepared the cocktails, measuring and adding different alcoholic substances together and then shaking to mix them up, before pouring the colorful liquid out.

Changmin tried out the green cocktail called ‘Incredible Hulk’. He felt the first sip of the cognac-based drink burning his throat as he downed it. His body felt warmed up. He started to feel much more connected to where he was.

He looked around and saw the band, including an accordionist, a cellist, a bassoonist, a violinst, a cajon-drummer and a guitarist. They were not staying on stage, but playing in the middle of the room. Around them people were dancing - not the kind of “dirty” dancing often seen at clubs, but a cheerful kind of dancing; with people smiling widely, not just swaying with the music but moving their hands and legs in lively movements. On the sides there were small wooden tables, where some were having beers or cocktails. Everyone was laughing and talking loudly. It was not a place where one came to forget about the reality, but one that would probably make people connect.

The music and the atmosphere made Changmin felt pumped up. He looked to his side to see Junsu had also just finished his second vodka shot. “Wanna dance?” Junsu asked.

“Okay.” Changmin got down from the bar stool and walked with Junsu to where people were dancing. At a point they stopped and turned to face each other.
