The gardens were filled with an overwhelming sweet smell that had Zexion closing his eyes, inhaling deeply. The scents danced around his sensitive nose, luring him deeper into the gardens. He had no idea the place had even existed in Castle Oblivion. How could such sweet smells exist with this much darkness sucking the life out everything around them.
Zexion opened his eyes, his gaze catching the sight of a pristine sapphire flower bush growing almost wild. The buds looked like orchids though, they couldn’t possibly be. Hybrids then, he thought, though startled out of his mind when someone cleared their throat.
“Who’s there?” Zexion turned only to be faced with the tall male he’d not really paid much attention to back at the Castle That Never Was.
Marluxia shouldered his scythe and raised a brow, “I should be the only one asking you that since you are the trespasser here.”
Zexion swallowed, the lump in his throat tight as the sweet alluring scent of XI wafted toward his delicate nose. VI whimpered and took a step back, gripping the novel he held in his hand.
“Forgive me XI, I did not mean to intrude,” Zexion swallowed, edging backward, “I was only looking for solitude and ended up here.”
Marluxia raised his eyebrow even more, watching as VI turned and rushed into a newly formed corridor, disappearing into the darkness. He tilted his head and glanced back to the sapphire orchids that had started to bloom. An experiment he’d preformed and had finally began to see the fruits of his labor. Marluxia grinned slightly and leaned over the bush, snipping one or two of the budding branches.
Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to give VI a gift, since he seemed quite taken with the orchids.
In his room, Zexion gripped his coat tightly with a clenched fist, breathing deeply, only disappointed that the sweet scent of the gardens was replaced with the smell of repulsive darkness. VI sighed and flopped to the mattress of his empty bed.
