Reiichiro straightened his back and consciously shifted his footing correctly in the same fashion he had been taught as he pulled the arrow back, his bow fully taunt. He aimed for the target and inhaled calmly, on his exhale he let the arrow fly, pegging the target a hair from the bullseye. The brunette tried to calm his ragged nerves, the day’s events weighing heavily on his mind and he tried to clear the thoughts the only way he knew how.

He slipped another arrow from his quiver and notched it on the bow. Inhaling he pulled back, creating the tension in the string as the bow readied for the powerful force that was about to be released. Reiichiro paused, aimed and exhaled as he let the arrow go.

And for a split second he felt the tension in his own body ebb away and crash to the floor as the arrow landed on it’s mark, center of the bullseye. Reiichiro nodded his head once in appreciation, feeling the calming powers that practicing his archery continuously provided him.

Jinnai had kissed him…

At the mere thought of what had happened at work prior, Reiichiro’s hands trembled, yet he composed himself as he notched another arrow, pulling the bow taunt as he aimed. When he fired it, the release of the arrow didn’t soothe him, instead it drug his mind through the path of events that led up to Jinnai kissing him.

The shoji screen moving caused Reiichiro to glance over his shoulder where it was cracked, yet with how dark it was in the dojo, he couldn’t see exactly who it was. He slipped another arrow out of his quiver and notched it, aiming for the target. It hissed through the air, pegging the mark dead on as a slight gasped inhale broke his calm.

“Jinnai,” Reiichiro called out, closing his eyes and sighing, “come in.”

Caught red handed, Jinnai pushed the shoji screen open to allow him to step inside the dojo, his hand rubbing at the back of his neck in embarrassment.

“You always keep it dark in here, Manager?” Jinnai chuckled, not feeling any humor in his words.

“Stop calling me Manager!” Reiichiro snapped, turning a serious gaze toward Jinnai.

He paused, looking away as he released a terse sigh, “Reiichiro… I apologize… for sounding so sarcastic when I call you manager. It doesn’t help that I’m this jealous of you.”

Reiichiro exhaled and closed his eyes, “It’s alright. Why are you here?”

“I came to apologize?”

“For what?” Reiichiro glanced back at him, studying his co-worker in the dim light.

Jinnai shoved his hands into his pockets and gave a shrug, “For earlier… today…” his voice trailed off as he turned his head.

The image of Jinnai pressing him against the door of the office as he pulled him into a heated kiss caused Reiichiro to rub the bridge of his nose, trying to expel the thoughts, “You didn’t have to come to my home. Haven’t I already said not to.”

“This was just… this was different,” Jinnai stepped forward, his eyes sincere.

Reiichiro nodded, his grip on his bow tightening as he continued to stare at his co-worker. The dojo filled with an awkward silence as the two of them just stood there.

Jinnai cleared his throat and pointed to the bow, “You practicing?”

“Clearing my head,” Reiichiro answered honestly, meeting Jinnai’s hazel gaze.

“Ah…” he rubbed the back of his neck before motioning to the bow again, “Is it alright if I stay and watch you practice?” The brunette glanced at his bow he held tightly in his grip, before staring at Jinnai evenly, his brow furrowed in thought, grey eyes full of uncertainty. Hastily, Jinnai raised his hands up, “I won’t do anything, promise.”

Reiichiro exhaled a sigh, “I can’t.”

Jinnai narrowed his eyes, “Why not?”

He shook his head, his heart racing, “I do this to clear my head. If you’re there… watching me… I just couldn’t do it.” He turned away from his co-worker as Jinnai stepped toward him, hand out stretched, “I can’t get the thoughts out of my head…”

The grip on his shoulder to turn him around, made Reiichiro’s heart skip a beat as he faced Jinnai, who stood right in front of him, his hazel eyes showing his annoyance, “You are so naïve, Rei,” he grabbed his chin to hold him still as he kissed him quickly and thoroughly. Reiichiro gasped, only allowing Jinnai’s tongue to sneak past his lips expertly tangling with his own.

He could feel his resolve crumbling as his bow fell from his hands, his fingers instead going to the lapel of Jinnai’s suit jacket, gripping a hold of the fabric. He tugged him closer, meeting his kissed with a force of his own, his heart pounding in his chest. Reiichiro pulled back, panting for air, Jinnai trailing his hot breath along his neck to where he nibbled on his ear, his arms wrapping him in a hug.

And there he clung to him, feeling their emotions for each other swell and crash against each others, like the waves of the ocean meeting the rocky shore. It was then, Reiichiro realized that no matter how much he practiced his archery alone and in the dark like he had so many times before to clear his head, there would be no way to wipe Jinnai from his thoughts not with him affecting his naïve heart like he did.

All Reiichiro could think of in the second before they stumbled to the hardwood floor was Jinnai and what he did to him, and he was lost in the current of his feelings, Jinnai’s lips pressing against his collar, making him breathless.
