He has a one track mind. He heard a noise and went to investigate it and when he gets curious about something, all thoughts of self-preservation fly out of the window.

But he's not a detective. Or a policeman. Or anything of the sort. And all it did was nearly get him killed. Again.

That's the rumor. Apparently, they burned a woman at the stake five hundred years ago for vampirism, so the locals think she's back from the grave.

Does that kind of thing happen a lot where you come from?

Not really. Well, people getting killed happens all the time, but this is the first time I've seen where people seriously thought it was from something supernatural.
