Burning Question

I've been puzzled by this for awhile, but I noticed that for some del.icio.us accounts, their public links do not show up in any of del.icio.us' public places like Recent, History, etc. at all. Even when you add them to your network, their recent links do not appear in the network ( Read more... )

I don't think it's the license settings doing that; I think there is probably something wrong with the fandomdirectory account. For some reason its links aren't getting propagated to the larger community. I would contact support if I were you.

Still, in the interest of testing your theory, I have made my test del account (samestla) use the "None (You reserve all rights)" license and hooked it into my network. So far, I still see its links there.

The thing is it's not isolated to fandomdirectory. I can only think of two other accounts off-hand, but I've noticed metafandom and recsalicious have the same issue.

And I think it might take awhile for the setting to become effective? I've changed the setting for fandomdirectory to Creative Commons license and I'm going to give it a dary or so to see if it's the license setting or just my own paranoia.

You should find out what metafandom has set their license to -- maybe ask fairestcat? In the meantime, I will keep samestla as it is and see if anything changes.

(And I note that the RSS feed that is supposedly the thing that the license affects still works in all cases. So. I really don't see why that setting should be changing where an account's links are shown. It isn't documented like that, and isn't really even what that setting is about.)

I still think you should report it! They'll be able to tell you right away what's going on. I've always had good dealings with their support.

Yes, that is why it is so puzzling! I'm currently having the network at my wistfuljane account (http://del.icio.us/network/wistfuljane) subscribed to other del.icio.us accounts I've noticed this issue or that I know that have the None setting. Hm, maybe, I should try to change fandomdirectory's setting to public domain first.

But I feel like I should have more findings before I report it! Or that I should comfirm whether it is the rss feeding or not that causing i! I will report it though, just, uhm, later.

Can you let us know what customer service says? I've had the same problem for ages and when I wrote to them they thought it might be a kink with my account and reprogrammed it in some way or another. Anyway, that didn't solve the problem but I haven't written back because I've been trying to find a way to sort it myself (which! I probably should just get over).

Thanks!

One of del.icio.us employees suggested that we directly e-mail feedback-at-del.icio.us about the matter below. May I have your del.icio.us account username so I can included in the list of accounts being affected by this problem? Hopefully, they will be able to fix the problem (this time for you)!

Hi everyone, this is Britta the del.icio.us community manager intern, posting on my personal LJ account but I don't think I really need to make a special one just for this. :) It's wonderful that you guys are so into del.icio.us! This particular problem usually is just a kink in the system, not anything you did yourself. The best way to fix it is to send an email to feedback-at-del.icio.us listing the affected account(s), and I'll see what I can do.

Hi! And thank you! I did submit a message to support about this, but I will send an e-mail directly to feedback-at-del.icio.us as you suggested. Thank you so much for looking into the matters.

You're welcome. I'm keeping an eye on what's going on, but it should be fine now.
