There is a reason I'm so obsessed with pop culture. I love researching it and finding out what people like and WHY! I do not have the time to research other countries (in general I keep an eye on japan and some of the western european countries), but American pop culture is my forte and my passion

pop culture is one of my many weaknesses.
the more extravagant and base, the more i love it.

there are some aspects of it i cannot abide, such as american idol and all these who wants to marry shows (although i will probably have to watch the midget one), but put on COPS or wrestling, and i will sit, slack jawed, eyes wide.

i think you can definitely find out more about a culture, its collective dreams and obsessions, but watching the broad strokes of its popular culture and trends.
far more so than the "higher" arts, which are usually just a barometer for the more well to do.
